ATTLEBORO — A tow truck driver has been sentenced to three years in jail after a jury convicted him of stealing the wallet of a victim in a double-fatal car crash.
The Sun Chronicle reports that Ronald Forget of Pawtucket, R.I., was convicted of larceny and misuse of a credit card in Taunton District Court this week.
Prosecutors say after the July 2007 accident on Interstate 295 in Attleboro, Forget took the wallet of one victim and used his credit cards to pay off a cell phone bill and to buy gas.
He was arrested five days after the crash by police in Rhode Island and subsequently fired by the towing company he worked for.
His wife has previously apologized on his behalf.
