ROCK HILL, MO (KTVI-FOX2Now.com) - It's Cinco De Mayo in Rock Hill. Instead of doing the Mexican Hat Dance they're doing the tow truck tango. Each year the Mexican day of celebration attracts lots of people to the Hacienda Restaurant. The restaurant does not have enough parking. Nearby businesses don't want the overflow to fill their parking lots. They hire tow companies to get rid of unwanted cars.
Many warning signs are posted including at Hacienda. A tow can cost a driver at least $300 dollars. There are confrontations between drivers and tow truck companies. Rock Hill Police will have to intervene in about six of the disagreements each Cinco De Mayo. Tow truck company owners estimate as many as 75 cars will get the hook on this day. Drivers don't think it's fair, but business owners don't want to lose customers who can't find a place to park.

It's unbelievable that people still choose to show how ignorant they are and park in the lot across the street from Hacienda. It has been posted every year "No Hacienda Parking" and yet there will always be some that evidently can't read. There are also towing signs posted so no one can claim they didn't know. No where does it say it's okay if you're just going across the street to Hacienda for a couple minutes. Glad these people have the money to pay the tow and fine. Now all that is left is for them to get a DUI/DWI or kill someone on the way home.

Why not just shuttle people in/out, Hacienda is Benefitting from it all, and the city makes a little on the taxes. So Hacienda and the City use the Parking Lot near StarBuck's / Hardee's on Manchester. Let Hacienda pick up most of the Tap, if not all of it. That way everybody is Happy.

DUH. Have parking down the street and Hacienda pay for a shuttle bus between. Advertise it, get a sponsor for it and be done. Hacienda has a responsibility to their neighbors and customers. Work out deals with businesses where they can pay to park in their spots. Hacienda is dropping the ball on an event that they make great money on every year. Waker up Hacienda.

I would not pay 20 dollars to park to eat out at your restaurant.
